MLA AGM

The Gardiner team knows it is important to stay informed of the issues that matter to their clients. On July 22, Jim & Iris as members of the Muskoka Lakes Association went to meet the political leaders of Muskoka at the MLA’s 117th annual general meeting. The meeting included presentations from the MLA’s four portfolios (water quality; political and land use; community affairs; and member relations), summing up each committee’s activities over the past year.

They also heard from the politicians – most of whom are new to their positions following last year’s tumultuous municipal elections.

Each dignitary was invited to make a few remarks, and there was a question and answer session. Interesting to find out how they're spending your money, what they're doing to preserve water quality and shoreline environments, and what they see as the major challenges and opportunities in their municipalities.

Jim did me a favor 20 years ago and I wanted to return the favor – I approached him and Iris at the cottage show and, even though I already had a real estate agent, he recommended a cottage property that I purchased and enjoyed for those 20 years. I therefore, tracked him down and had him be our agent in selling that property. Our priority was to find new owners that would be friendly and fit in well with the neighbors and Jim and Iris found the perfect couple Jim and Iris made the entire sale most enjoyable. The experience was so smooth and enjoyable that the sellers, the buyers and the real estate agents all got together for supper the following summer at our old cottage!
