The ultimate luxury is privacy! This property is a refuge from the busy life and a place to spend quality time with family and friends. Nestled under the shade of the trees behind the seven hundred and fifty feet of natural shoreline with long views across Lake Joseph, you can enjoy the ultimate level of solitude.
This handcrafted cottage was custom built in 2007 for the current owner with great attention to detail, along with warm wood textures throughout. The dining room section of the cottage is enclosed with sections of logs from the original circa 1893 cabin. The remainder of the logs where milled and used in the flooring of the upper level of the cottage.
Casually sophisticated style is reflected in the unique design elements of this building. Hemlock flooring, various textures of pine throughout, stone fireplaces, hemlock kitchen cabinets and black granite counters give this cottage a feel of elegant comfort and blends harmoniously with its natural outdoor surroundings.
Three of the spacious bedrooms each have their own ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. There are several quiet areas for working on your business while you are spending time in Muskoka. The forth bedroom is ideal for young children or an artist’s studio due to its proximity to the master suite.
The boathouse (refurbished in 2005) exudes “olde” Muskoka charm with all the creature comforts. Gorgeous views down lake Joseph, listen to the call of the loons on the covered porch. Let your guests enjoy their own private suite on the second storey of this charming boathouse retreat. The two covered boat slips are accommodating for splendid watercrafts given their width of 10’2 & 12’ and length of 27’.
There are acres of level, gentle land to roam and run and play or just enjoy the serenity of nature. The possibilities for the use of the lands are as endless as limits of your imagination. Two separately deeded lots allow for the building of a second cottage of a minimum of 750 square feet up to the maximum of 7,500 square feet as well as a second boathouse on the existing cottage property….or leave everything the way it is and enjoy!
The large garage allows for plenty of storage for all your toys as well as space for a woodworking shop or whatever else your hobby interests might be. The garage is also the home to a 45KW (75 hour capacity) diesel generator which will power the entire property, both cottage and boathouse.

“Jim and Iris Gardiner were both amazing to deal with. A truly professional team. They shared a great deal of knowledge with us and really shed important light regarding potential Island Cottage ownership – all the pros and cons. Not only did they sell our existing cottage in 24 hours for much higher than our asking price they helped us find our new slice of paradise on Lake Muskoka in a very tight market. We are thrilled with our new cottage and love being on Eilean Gowan Island! We would highly recommend either Jim or Iris for any of your Real Estate needs!”J & D – Sold on Echo Lake and bought on Lake Muskoka
Mike Taylor was a great find for us. Mike was accessible and flexible with showings, visits, the house inspection and all of the steps involved in closing a sale. Following our closing Mike has continued to be a valuable source of information providing us with contacts for insurance, plumbing and electricians among other things.S & D – Muskoka River, Port Sydney
Jim did me a favor 20 years ago and I wanted to return the favor – I approached him and Iris at the cottage show and, even though I already had a real estate agent, he recommended a cottage property that I purchased and enjoyed for those 20 years. I therefore, tracked him down and had him be our agent in selling that property. Our priority was to find new owners that would be friendly and fit in well with the neighbors and Jim and Iris found the perfect couple Jim and Iris made the entire sale most enjoyable. The experience was so smooth and enjoyable that the sellers, the buyers and the real estate agents all got together for supper the following summer at our old cottage!K & L – Lake Muskoka
As first time cottage buyers but no strangers to purchasing property, we were fortunate to find Mike Taylor. We purchased through him in 2016 and would gladly again. Honest, great local knowledge and mindful of the nuances of financing, our experience with this agent was golden. Hardworking and always available, Mike made our experience of this purchase so much easier. A great job and comes with the highest recommendation” Thank you AgainS & C – Buck Lake, Huntsville
It is with great pleasure and appreciation for me to recommend the services of Jim Gardiner and the entire Gardiner Team. Jim’s awareness of community by-laws and market related activities extracted incremental value for us when we were finalizing the purchasing agreement.JB – Mirror Lake
